Happy Panda Junk Removal handles junk removal, cleanouts, deck and shed teardowns and demolition across Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, High River, Strathmore, Langdon and Crossfield. The crew does all the loading, sorts usable items for donation, and quotes every job free before any work begins.

What junk removal actually covers

Junk removal means what it sounds like. A crew arrives, loads what you point at, and takes it away. What separates one company from another is what happens next. Some haul everything straight to landfill. We sort first, because the whole company was built around cutting what gets buried.

Most people call us for one of three reasons. Something is too big for a city cart, something has filled a space they need back, or a property has to be emptied quickly. Those three cover nearly every job we do.

What we take

Furniture

Couches, sectionals, beds, dressers, tables, desks and office chairs.

Mattresses

Every size, plus box springs, futons and crib mattresses.

Appliances

Fridges, stoves, washers, dryers and freezers, including freon units.

Renovation debris

Drywall, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, lumber and packaging.

Yard waste

Branches, sod, fencing, deck boards and small tree removal.

Electronics

Televisions, monitors, computers, printers and stereo equipment.

Garage clutter

Tires, tools, paint, bikes, shelving and stored boxes.

Heavy materials

Concrete, brick, paving stone, dirt and sand, charged by weight.

Demolition, and how the price is worked out

The second half of our work is demolition. Decks, sheds, fences, garages, patios and interior strip-outs all produce debris that a junk truck already handles. Doing both means one crew, one quote, and no gap between the tear-out and the haul-away.

Pricing works by volume, not by the hour. You get a price before we lift anything, and that price is what you pay. Heavy materials such as concrete, dirt and tires are charged by weight, and we separate those out in the quote.

What we cannot take

  • Asbestos, or any material that has tested positive for it
  • Propane tanks and other pressurised cylinders
  • Solvents, fuels and commercial quantities of hazardous chemicals
  • Medical and biological waste
  • Ammunition, explosives and flares

Every service we offer

Junk Removal

Household junk, yard waste, appliances and renovation debris removed in a single visit. The crew loads from any room or floor, so nothing needs dragging to the curb first. Most Calgary loads can be cleared the same day you call.

Furniture Removal

Couches, sectionals, beds, dressers, desks and office furniture carried out of any room. Pieces come apart when a stairwell or doorway demands it, and floors and frames are protected on the way through. Donatable furniture goes to charity partners.

Mattress & Box Spring Removal

Mattresses and box springs of every size, plus futons and crib mattresses, collected from any floor. Clean, dry mattresses are sent for recycling so foam, springs and fabric are separated rather than buried. Suspect items are bagged before they move.

Garage Cleanouts

The full garage emptied, including paint, tires, lumber, tools, bikes and stored boxes, then swept clean. Built-in shelving and workbenches can come out too. Tires and household chemicals carry disposal fees, which we itemise in the quote.

Garage Cleanouts in Calgary

Estate Cleanouts

A full property cleared after a death, a downsizing or a move to assisted living. Keepsakes, documents and valuables are set aside for the family rather than loaded. You get an itemised receipt suitable for estate records.

Estate Cleanouts in Calgary

Hoarder Cleanouts

Heavily filled homes cleared discreetly, room by room, at whatever pace the household sets. Documents and valuables are set aside, protective gear is used where needed, and nothing is photographed or posted without written permission.

Shed Removal

Wood, metal and plastic sheds emptied, dismantled and hauled away, with the footprint raked clean. Concrete pads and footings can come out as a separately quoted part of the job. Sound lumber and metal panels go for recycling.

Shed Removal in Calgary

Deck Removal

Wood and composite decks torn out down to the posts, with footings dug and removed on request. The ledger board is taken off carefully so the house wall stays sound, and the site is raked clear of nails.

Demolition Services

Interior strip-outs, basement and bathroom tear-outs, garage demolition, concrete breaking and cutting, fence and gazebo removal, plus pool and swingset dismantling. Debris is loaded as we go, and likely permit requirements are flagged at the quote.

Carpet Cleaning

Carpets in homes, rentals and offices vacuumed, pre-treated and deep cleaned with hot water extraction. Traffic lanes, pet stains and move-out cleans are the usual calls. When we are already clearing a home, the carpets can be cleaned once the rooms are empty.

Why homeowners choose Happy Panda

Junk King, Just Junk and 1-800-Got-Junk all run franchise call centres. You book through a dispatcher, and the crew that arrives is whoever was assigned that morning. That model works for them, but it is not what we do.

At Happy Panda the owner answers the phone. The crew introduces itself by name before starting, updates you while the work runs, and walks the finished space with you before leaving. Nothing is invoiced that you did not approve.

The owner answers

No dispatcher between you and the person doing the work.

Named crew

Everyone introduces themselves by name before anything gets loaded.

Rated by real customers

Live Google reviews, published on our reviews page as they come in.

Donation first

Usable goods reach charity partners before anything reaches the landfill.

Before and after photos

Every job finishes with photos and a receipt on the spot.

Free quotes

On site or by photo, quotes cost nothing and commit you to nothing.

Ask around Calgary and the same detail keeps coming back: people remember which crew member showed up. That is the part a call centre cannot copy, and it is the whole difference in one line.

From first call to swept floor

1

You call or send photos

Tell us what you have and where it sits. A photo of the pile and the doorway usually gets you a price range on the phone. For cleanouts and demolition we book a free on-site visit instead.

2

Free quote, no obligation

The crew looks at the actual load, checks the route out, and gives you a firm price. Heavy materials and disposal surcharges are itemised separately. You are free to say no, and plenty of people take a day to think.

3

We confirm before we start

Before anything moves we agree what goes and what stays. Most people mark a keep zone. Nothing leaves the property unless you have pointed at it, which matters most on estate and hoarding jobs.

4

We do all the loading

You do not carry anything. The crew takes items from any room and any floor, protects your walls and floors on the way out, and takes pieces apart when a doorway or stairwell demands it.

5

Sort, donate, dispose

Usable furniture, housewares, tools and building materials are separated for donation or recycling. Whatever cannot be reused goes to a licensed transfer station. Freon appliances, tires and paint are routed to the correct facility.

6

Sweep, photograph, receipt

The space is swept, you walk it with the crew, and before and after photos are sent. An invoice and receipt are issued on the spot, by e-transfer, credit card or Apple Pay.

What it costs and what moves the price

Every quote is free, and the price is set before work begins. Volume drives most of it, which is why curbside or garage-ready loads cost less than a room-by-room clear. Heavy materials are the exception and are charged by weight.

VolumeHow much space the load takes in the truck
AccessStairs, elevators, long carries and back lanes add labour
WeightConcrete, brick, dirt and sand are priced by weight
Surcharge itemsTires, freon appliances and paint carry disposal fees
LocationJobs outside Calgary may include an out-of-town charge
Donation valueGoods we can donate reduce landfill fees on the job

How long jobs usually take

Single item pickup15 to 30 minutesOne couch, mattress or appliance at ground level
Half truck load1 to 2 hoursA garage corner or a small basement clear
Garage or shed clear2 to 4 hoursA standard single or double bay, swept after
Deck or shed teardownHalf to full dayDepends on size, height and footings
Full home cleanout1 to 3 daysEstate and hoarding jobs can be staged

Timings assume reasonable access. Stairs, tight corners and long carries add time.

Five ways to lower your quote

Group it in one place

A single pile in the garage or driveway loads faster and costs less.

Separate the heavy stuff

Keep concrete, dirt and brick apart, since those are priced by weight.

Flag the surcharge items

Tell us about tires, paint and freon appliances when you book.

Clear the path

Move vehicles and unlock gates so the crew can carry straight through.

Decide what stays

Mark a keep zone before we arrive so nothing goes by mistake.

Why a panda

The panda is an endangered species that depends on forest habitat people keep clearing. We picked it deliberately. A clean habitat makes a Happy Panda. A junk removal company decides every day whether something gets reused or buried, and that decision is the whole point of the name.

In practice it means sorting on the truck rather than at the landfill gate. Furniture, tools, building materials and household goods that still work are separated for donation. Metal, clean wood and mattresses go for recycling where facilities accept them.

Sorted on the truck

Separation happens as we load, not after we reach the landfill.

Donation partners

Usable household goods and furniture go to charity rather than a bin.

Metal and wood recycled

Clean lumber, metal panels and hardware are separated for recycling.

Mattress recycling

Foam, springs and fabric are separated where facilities accept them.

Where we work

Calgary is our primary service area, and we run out to eight nearby communities every week. Jobs outside the city may carry an out-of-town charge, and it is always included in the quote you approve.

Frequently asked questions

Not always. If the items sit in a garage, driveway or somewhere with safe access and you have arranged entry, the crew can work without you there. We send photos when the job is done and take payment afterward by e-transfer or card.

Junk removal is priced by the volume your load takes in the truck, plus surcharges for heavy or regulated materials such as concrete, dirt, tires and appliances with freon. You get the full price before any loading starts, and it does not change afterward.

Often the same day, especially inside Calgary when you call in the morning. The towns further out schedule best with a day or two of notice. We run seven days a week from 7am to 8pm, so weekends are normal working days for us.

Usable furniture, tools, housewares and building materials are sorted for donation or recycling first. What is left goes to a licensed transfer station. Tires, paint and freon appliances are routed to facilities that handle them properly, rather than to a general landfill.

Yes. A single couch, mattress or appliance is a normal booking, and there is a minimum charge that covers sending a truck and crew. Because pricing is by volume, adding a few more items to that same trip usually costs very little extra.

Yes. Estate cleanouts, hoarding cleanouts and full property clear-outs are a regular part of our work. Larger homes run one to three days, and we can stage the work across several visits if the household or the family needs more time.

Yes. Decks, sheds, fences, gazebos, garages, patios, pools and interior strip-outs are all work we take on, and the debris leaves with the same crew. Some structural work needs a city permit, which we flag during the on-site quote. Permits are pulled by the owner or the general contractor.

Yes, on larger jobs. Full cleanouts, multi-day hoarding work and demolition projects can be financed rather than paid in one go. Ask about it when you call, and we will explain the available options before you commit to a booking of any size.

E-transfer, credit card and Apple Pay are all accepted, and payment is due once the work is finished. You receive an invoice and a receipt on the spot, so there is nothing to chase up later and nothing to wait for in the post.
